Today, I attempted (for the first time) to write my cca achievements.
It was terrible. I figured I totally screwed my life in NJ. Pathetic portfolio and pathetic results. Nice one, Enid.

I am considering if I should switch to livejournal. I need a more presentable url. Cos the url on this is not even a word, I merely jumbled 3 words to one. Great creativity for a sec 1 kid huh (note the sarcasm).

Phobia 2 was awesome ! There were quite a number of funny scenes, and the last story is HILARIOUS. Good storylines, all of them. Definitely enjoyable :)

Ladies and Gentlemen, let us welcome the most long awaited day, the day which most j2s are looking forward to, the END OF PRELIMS.

I figured there's nothing to cheer about, because this is merely the end of the PRElims, there's still the real deal in about, 2 months time ? Makes me sick thinking about it.

But anyway, we still went out (actually I've been going out since Prelims started). After Kincheng left us to join her mum, Junfeng and I watched Time Traveller's Wife (oh man, it was so sad!), walked around town and visited Orchard Central. That place is FREAKING AWESOME. Really, the architecture and the layout of the mall is unbelievably gorgeous. Oh and while we were walking around town, I was amused at how every NJCian who met us thought we're on a date HAHA.

Jasmine and I went out on wednesday. Our study date was so funnnnn (TAVERNA:])and we got to eat some wonderful japanese ice cream which was like, highly expensive. Nevertheless, it was really good.

My facebook message today is amazing. I have to post it up.

On this day of your life, Enid, we believe God wants you to know ... that every relationship rests on three legs: accepting, supporting and challenging.

That's really it, isn't it? You want your relationships to be grounded on accepting each other as you are. On supporting each other through the inevitable ups and downs. On challenging each other to become more, to grow, to flourish. Which one of these is the more difficult one for you, and how are you going to practice it in the next 24 hours?

Everyday I pray for guidance, for wisdom, to keep every relationship on the right path. Which one of those is more difficult then ? For me, challenging others would be the most daunting. To push, to criticise, to be patently honest and sometimes hurt them in the process of challenging them to grow, that's gonna take alot of courage on my part. The relationship would have to be really strong in the first place.

It's been a dreary week, with tonnes of papers one after another, but I am most relieved to say, it's coming to an end. Two more papers left, but they're mcq papers, so I don't think I'm going to study for them.

The j2s deserve a good break. A break from the terrible, painful mental stress that most of us are experiencing. We need to make up for the lack of life, flee to Eden and away from the mugging that's devouring our sanity. The outrageous anxiety before the paper, the constant panic attack during the paper, the prolonged disappointment after the paper and the cycle goes on for DAYS.

So during my break, I'm going to enjoy myself then attempt to get back to studying for the very last lap. And damn it, I WANT TO END THE RACE NOW.

As my days in NJ draw to an end, I can't help but feel slightly doleful. Of course, I am rather exasperated to leave this place, and I'm definitely going to love life alot more, but undeniably, NJ has much memories to cherish.

I've been on a movie (dvd) marathon.

And I finally finished the whole series of 还珠格格(I & II), 情深深雨蒙蒙, 魔术奇缘, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and 90210.

I can't blog about anything else because that's pretty much my June Holidays so far.

I just wished I had cherish you before these happened.

Shopping with Dot today ! We went Bugis and visited the new shopping centre Iluma. It's quite an amazing place, really. There is an escalator that leads you all the way from the first storey to the fourth storey. Plus the building has a cool architecture and the air-con is extremely efficient.

Yes, it's finally easter :)

Went out with HT and the JCs to some italian restaurant! Our table was waiting expectantly for our main dish out of the 4 courses, only to be disappointed by the dory fish. The sauce was good, but the fish was the size of my mp4. But I figured that place focuses on the quality of food and services so that's where the bulk of our money went to.

40 days of prayer, fasting and abstinence, it all boils down to this day, the day when our flaws die and a new life is reborn in us just as Jesus did.

These 40 days have been, insane. Alot of things happened, like ALOT.

And I haven't spent a day not crying in bed.

Went for Lumos 2009 and I must say, I am amazed.
First, well done NJWD (: To the juniors, a great start; to the seniors, I LOVE HALO oh gosh that is like my favourite dance.

The other performances were just, so inspiring. There was a band who performed their own composition. The other bands were awesome too. The performance by Timothy and Sherry was just fantabulous, and so was the performance by Nathan Hartono and Nathan Khoo. Honestly, after listening to them, I want to pick up the guitar. That way I can serenade people on 2 instruments. Okay maybe not serenade. But well you get me.

It is simply amazing to see people showcasing their passion. And I feel inspired to be someone to bring the joy of music to those around me. I want to tell people that music can bring you happiness and cure your sorrow and appease your anger. That without music life would be a mistake. That music is what feelings sound like, the poetry of the air, the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life, the medicine of the mind.

It is cruel, you know, that music should be so beautiful. It has the beauty of loneliness and of pain: of strength and freedom. The beauty of disappointment and never-satisfied love. The cruel beauty of nature, and everlasting beauty of monotony.

So today was an eventful day :)

The moment between life and death

For those who caught Changeling, I'm confident many of us would have been struck by the scene in which Gordon Northcott (Jason Butler Harner) was executed. In the movie, he was sentenced to execution by hanging after convicted for murder of about 20 kids.

Up the stairs onto the execution stage, he asked in a soft voice: "Does it hurt ?" The chief officer stared blankly at him. For the first time in the show, I saw the grief, the fear and the desperation in the eyes of Gordon Northcott. It is during this point of time I question, what had he been thinking when he committed those terrible acts of crime ? Had he not thought about the consequences thereafter ?

The culmination of the execution scene was when he started to sing 'Silent Night' after the executioner placed the cloth and noose over his head and prepared to push the lever. Though I could not see his face, I knew how terrified he was. Imagine, the moment between life and death, the moment when you know all that you've worked for during your entire life becomes obsolete, the moment when you regret all the past wrongdoings, the moment you wished you could turn back the clock and make the right decision this time, the moment when everything in the world does not matter anymore, the moment you lived your life dreading.

I can't help but feel sorry for him. That is stupid, you would say: he was a murderer, a completely selfish, egomaniacal being who deserved no life on earth. But I guess at that point of time, that was meaningless and insignificant. A man is at his most crucial point in life, the pinnacle of regrets. His life is about to be taken away without his consent, in the most ruthless manner. My heart wrenches at the excruciating pain he had to endure. I was trying to immerse myself in his situation and put myself in his shoes, but I don't think I can ever match up to how frightened he felt.

And how many people already felt the same way: so afraid, so terrified ? The mental and emotional stress one experience during the moment between life and death is tremendous. It is the moment when human instincts tell them, that if ever, they were given another chance, they will never allow themselves to experience the same feeling.

CNY celebrations on Friday was great :) It was back to SN, and as usual, it was ineffable. All the memories, the laughter, the times.

2008 has gone, it is a thing of the past. I previously mentioned that it was my worst year, no question. 2007 on the other hand was the best. So I looked through all the pictures in 2007 and I decided to spam a few of my favourites.

That's probably about less than 1% of the photos I have from 2007. Oh gosh, I miss it so much. May 2009 be a better year.

2008 is a year I will remember. Probably because it is one of the worst years in my life. This year has been crazy, made new friends, screwed up my studies, lost myself and am currently in the process of finding me again. Because, sometimes, you have to step outside of the person you've been. And remember the person you were meant to be. The person you wanted to be. The person you are.

This year is by far the year that I've wasted alot of time and money on unnecessary things. I've made terrible mistakes which I hope I don't make next year. I haven't been a good friend either, all those numerous times I promised I would catch up with friends, yet I had so many other commitments that I failed to spend sufficient time with people I love.

2009 is only going to get worst, it's an important year for every 18 year old jc student. I'm having my piano exam next year too, so I have to put aside time with my beloved instrument as well. That is a big deal to me because it's important, and I love music and everything about it. I wish I could say the same for As, unfortunately I have absolutely no passion for all the subjects I'm studying.

I do not look forward to 2009, but I have to welcome the inevitable. In doing so, I have to change the way I've been living. Watching One Tree Hill (albeit it's just a typical American serial, which I know some of my dear friends will definitely argue) has made me realise what life can do to you, also, what you can do to life. Most importantly, I learnt that sometimes we need to step up. Stepping up. It's a simple concept. It basically means to rise above yourself; to do a little more. You know it's been said that we just don't recognize the significant moments of our lives while they're happening. We grow complacent with ideas, or things or people and we take them for granted and it's usually not until that thing is about to be taken away from you that you've realized how wrong you've been that you realized how much you need it, how much you love it.

So sometimes I live in fear, fear of losing what I have.

However, there's a line from Henry James: 'Be not afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living, and your belief will help create the fact.'

So 2009, here I come.

Been staying up with my latest night buddy, adobe photoshop. Making pictures of Edward, Bella and other characters in twilight. Will be putting them up every post and everywhere :)

I don't know what's wrong with me, I've been such a fangirl this holidays. First Jean-Baptiste Maunier, then Twilight, and I can already feel the One Tree Hill thing in me.

So I haven't even started on my work yet. To think Christmas is approaching, and it's A levels next year. It's getting stressful, every minute as the clock ticks. I'd say Singapore JC kids have a lamentable life. It's all about mugging, studying a load of crap which aren't going to much help in our future anyway. We're always trying to juggle tests, exams, notes, cca commitments and most importantly, having a life. I can't believe I chose to put myself in one of the few torturous institutions and confine my life to those useless notes and knowledge which I won't be needing after the end of next year.

hah, meet Jeremy, the star of my camera.

I remember my confirmation last year, it was unbelievable. Truly a once in a lifetime experience. Receiving Christ was just all that I wanted. It was the start of my life as a confirmed catholic and since then life has been amazing. Not amazing amazing, as in, well, it's different you know. In my blog post on my confirmation day last year, I mentioned that I was going to "step up and be a soldier of God". And really, I can't judge myself how I've faired since my confirmation a year ago.

So anyway, seeing all these newly confirmed, I can't help but feel so glad, so blissful, so happy. Go forth, young ones filled with the fire from the Holy Spirit, and spread His word !

Election Day 2008 must have been filled with rueful paradoxes for the sitting president. Iraq- the issue that dominated George W. Bush's presidency for 5.5 bitter, controversial years - is on the verge of a miraculous peace. And yet this accomplishment did little to revive Bush's political standing - or to prevent his party from relegating him to a silent role.

This seems to be Bush's current fate: Even success brings no praise. And the reasons probably concern Iraq. The absence of stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction in the aftermath of the war was a massive blow. The early conduct of Iraq occupation was terribly ineffective. Hopes that the war had turned a corner - repeatedly raised by Iraqis voting with purple fingers and approving a constitution - were dashed too many times, until many Americans became unwilling to believe anymore.

Initial failures in Iraq acted like a solar eclipse, blocking the light on every achievement. But those achievements, with the eclipse finally passing, are considerable by the measure of any presidency. Because of the passage of Medicare Part D which Bush implemented, nearly 10 million low-income seniors are receiving prescription drugs at little or no cost. No Child Left Behind education reform has helped raise the average reading scores of fourth-graders to the highest level in 15 years, and narrowed the achievement gap between white and African-American children. The President's Emergency Plan AIDS relief has helped provide treatment for more than 1.7 million people and compassionate care for at least 2.7 million orphans and vulnerable children. And the decision to pursue the surge in Iraq will be studied as a model of presidential leadership.

For me, George Bush's humanity is what I will remember. I have seen President Bush show more loyalty than he has been given, more generosity than he has received. I have seen his buoyancy under the weight of malice and his forgiveness of faithless friends. Again and again, I have seen the natural tug of his pride swiftly overcome by a deeper decency - a decency that is privately engaging and publicly consequential.

Before the Group of Eight summit in 2005, the White house senior staff overwhelmingly opposed a new initiative to fight malaria in Africa for reasons f cost and ideology - a measure designed to save hundreds of thousands of lives, mainly of children under 5. In the crucial policy meeting, one person supported it: the president of the United States, shutting off debate with a moral certitude that others have criticized. Many of us never saw how this moral framework led him to an immediate identification with the dying African child, the Chinese dissident, the Sudanese former slave, the Burmese women's advocate. It is one reason I will never be cynical about government - or about President Bush.

For some, this image of Bush is so detached from their own conception that it must be rejected. That is, perhaps, understandable. But for me, I will always stay a fervent supporter of USA's ex-president.

Since I manage to get hold of the computer I'd better blog more before it gets confiscated again.

Anyway, the end of PW has arrived ! The very subject that gave us nerve-wrecking experiences, boredom, sickness and heart-in-the-mouth feelings has finally come to an end.

Though PW without a doubt was very much hated, I must acknowledge the many fun times I had with my PW groupmates. Spending time at each other's houses, having meals and going around Singapore were good times :)

I don't expect too good a result for PW (screwed up my qna) so whatever comes, I'll take it.

Wade Robson's Danz War at St James Power Station was good. But, Wade Robson didn't perform ! And I didn't get his autograph. At least we had fun. And the exposure was good. We were standing on the seats trying to catch a glimpse of the performances. They were really really good, the competitors. Haha okay I don't sound quite coherent.
